The Higher Militia

Welcome to The Higher Militia.

The Higher Militia is a forum-based roleplay set in an alternate universe, where magic and modernity come together in a seamless mix that has neither beginning or end. In this world, age-old power courses through the land and reemerges in little things and little ways, pulsing beneath the thin cover of iron and technology.

Here, you play the role of a young man or woman whose genes have been ‘altered’ by the raw power in the land. You are now known as ‘Carrier’, ostracized in public and infinitely more powerful than even you yourself can imagine. You are considered a danger to society, and, more often than not, are shunned by even your own family.

Carriers are usually set apart from other people, and are ‘collected’ from their homes as soon as their abilities begin to reveal themselves. It doesn’t matter what type of family you come from; rich or poor, you are automatically relocated to the Higher Militia– a sort of military barracks where you learn to control your newfound ‘talents’.

It is within these walls that you will learn and grow, forging bonds with other people like you, discovering things about yourself and the world you are in. You will learn to cope with the hardships this new life brings you, battling your inner demons and the monsters that prowl in your dreams, sparring with shadows and sunlight and the gray areas in between.

THM is a forum dedicated to in-character, literate roleplaying, allowing you to navigate the Militia through the eyes of a Carrier. Here, you will build friendships and break them, discard old hopes and fears in favor of new ones, and, above all, discover yourself along the way.

          Ah, yes. As many of you guys guessed, I’m a part of this site! However, there, I go by the name of (censored)(BWAHAHAHAH!!!!). But, that’s not really the point or topic here. We’re here to talk about The Higher Militia! Yay! Huh? I don’t hear anyone cheering with me! Well, get-over it! Check the site here… <HERE!!!>

          At first glance, this site looks everything like an ordinary forum site (not as grandoise as HongFire, in any way, though XD). But LOOK AGAIN!!! This site is actually a(n) RP hotspot! What is RP, I hear? Well, it’s a really pretty way of saying ‘Chain Story-Making’ or something like that. Hey, if you’ve ever worked on a chain story with an author on FanFiction, FictionPress, or whatever, you’ll know what I mean! However, the real difference here is that your works are visible to the public, even if they’re INCOMPLETE. That’s right. But, fear not! That’s the fun of RP’ing! Well, you’ll get it once you try it! Oh, and PLEASE don’t say anything about the missing banners or whatnot if you people are using Google Chrome like I am. It doesn’t affect how the site works WHATSOEVER. The admin girls are all pretty nice, too! And, no. I’m not an admin, so don’t get any ideas of me delivering your requests to them!! I AIN’T GONNA DO THAT!!!

          Well, anyway. How do you RP? Well, some people do this the fast way like…

- Reika: Hey, Nei! What’s up! Oh, I just rhymed!

- Nei: Shut-up or I’ll kill you… *sticks a sword on Reika’s throat*

- Reika: Oh, I apologize, Miss Scrutinize! *walks away, whistling to herself*

          Trust me, I once went through that phase with my friends! However, the system here approaches RP in a very literary manner. First of all, RPing here feels very much like writing fanfics! Like… uhm… well, here’s a line from one of Sunao’s posts there…

Sunao, with another one of signature blank looks on her face, entered her room for the first time. Cassandra had already informed her that she had a roommate that went by the name of Millia who could control ice. It was kind of ironic being paired with an ice user.

“Fire and ice, huh?” Sunao mumbled to herself as she took her first glimpse of her new and first room. She found the room to be very cold; almost like it was the freezer of a fridge. The moment she stepped-into the room, the temperature rose dramatically. However, it only went to a level suitable to be called ‘warm’. Whoever Millia was, Sunao deduced, must be a really proficient ice manipulator.

She felt the energies of both her flame and her roommate’s ice battle inside the room. Sunao felt the need to control herself before she could set flames to anything in the room. But, it wasn’t necessary. The moment she thought of the idea, the two energies that fought finally stopped and flowed throughout the room, creating a state of saturation that allowed their energies to coexist. She smiled at the phenomenon.

Looking to her right, just beside the farthest bed, she spotter her.

A normal person would usually wake their roommate for a greeting, but Sunao was different. Instead, Sunao ignored her and went lie at the bed closest to the study table and simple let her radiant heat leak-out of her body.

“Let this make her warm and continue sleeping…”

          Who’s Sunao, I hear? Oh, she’s a… uhh.. an acquaintance of mine. THAT’S ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW!!!

          Oh, about the plot? Well, it DOES seem a bit too imaginative, but HELL does it work! I’ve been having fun the moment I registered! The scenario in the plot is that you are a human possessing what they call the ‘Carrier’ genes. Basically, these genes give you AWESOMEZ powers that can even pwn Gilgamesh in one strike! Joke. Well, basically it gives you powers. In joining the site, you are given the freedom to choose ANY power you might like. However, there are rules like you can’t fly and such. You should still check that site for other rules like that since my hands hurt from all this typing

          My overall rating for this site would be a very AWESOMEZ rating of… uh…  lemme break them down… All out of five, guys!

Plot – 4 out of 5 – Seems to imaginative, but still makes great fun and burgers, nonetheless!

Character Creation – 5 out of 5 – Even with the rules, this game still gives you more freedom to edit your character(s) even more so than Phantasy Star or Tales of the World!

Music – 0 out of 5 – WHY!? CUZ THERE’S NO MUSIC THERE!!!

Site Design – 3.5 out of 5- Why can’t Google Chrome or Safari open the images on the top? I don’t know, but until mine does, I won’t change this score The site is still AWESOMEZ nonetheless! You should check it!!!

Overall – 4 out of 5 – YESS!!! MUST JOIN!!! I ORDER YOU OR HARUHI WILL BITE YOUR HEAD OFF!!!
